I have an old Mac floppy from 1995. I don't know what version of word I saved the documents in, but is says MSWord 1.x-5.x for the files when the disk is loaded. Yet I can't seem to open any of the files with Word 98, '00 on Mac or PC. Everytime I go to open a file it asks me which converter to use and none of them work. All I get is either a blank page or pages full of blank squares or dots. Any suggestions? Thanks, Steven

Hmmm... Word should be able to open them if they *are* Word files, which makes me think that maybe they aren't really Word files. Any chance you know someone with an older version of Word (I could do it if you can't find anyone else) whose old Word you could use to convert the files to something more universal? E-mail me one of the files and I'll take a look at it. p

If you can't open the files, including the guy above, e-mail one to me and I'll see if I can drop it in quark and export as plain text.

You won't be able to :) I opened 'em with ResEdit and they're empty. Totally empty. I'm pretty sure the problem was somewhere between the original copy on the hard disk and it getting sent to me. If I (or someone else) had physical access to the originals, maybe something could be done. p
