Help!! I am trying to install Debian on my mac and have run in to a problem. The instructions for the install require me to startup in the firmware prompt. However the prompt never shows up. I get a black screen with nothing happening. If i press the power button it just shuts off. however i can still boot in to OS 9.2 without a problem.
I have been pressing the right keys (OPTION + COMMAND + O + F) at the sound of the startup chime so i know that that is not the problem. I have also reset the pram and nvram successfully (I heard the chime 3 times) by pressing (OPTIONS + COMMAND + P + R). Still nothing.
Please help i need to know why i can't get the prompt. I am using a G4, 450mhz dual processor mac, with two hard drives one holding OS X 10.2 and the second using OS 9.2.
