I have a powerbook 520c and a apple CD300 external SCSI cd-rom. I downloaded the install software from the mac driver museum but still can't get the cd-rom to work. Can anyone help me? I must be doing something wrong.

I downloaded the drivers from the Mac driver museum web site. I tried the Apple Power CD driver v1.01 and the Apple universal CR- ROM driver 5.3.1. Both of these I could not get it to work. I have a Apple 300 cr-rom drive and a 7.5.1 OS Please help.

1) Are you absolutely sure the CD-ROM works?
2) Do you have it properly terminated?
3) What CDs does it not work with? Audio CDs? Mac-formatted data CDs? Photo CDs? ISO 9660 CDs? CD-Rs? CD-RWs? All of the above?

I know that the CD-Rom turns on and I have it connected properly but the Powerbook does not even recongnizes the cd-rom driver.

That's not what I asked.

Do you know for sure that the CD-ROM drive works? (In other words, has it been working on another Mac recently?)

Is the SCSI bus terminated? PowerBooks don't provide SCSI termination power, so there may be some difficulties with that.

If it's not working, it must be not working with some sort of CD. What sort?

Geez, I really get tired of asking the same questions over and over. People can't expect us to answer their questions without providing the information we ask for...
