can't detect volumes

CPU/Ram: 256

my G3 ibook clam shell crashed. when i turn it on, i get a
file folder with a "?" and the mac logo flashing.

i put in 'software install' disk to get into utilities so i can
run 'disk first aid'... the only volume showing is the cd...
there are no other volumes i can select.

It souns like your hard drive has failed. You will probably need a new hard drive.
