Hi,

We have a G4 with an external firewire Iomega CDRW (and Hot Burn software) installed. At first, Adobe Photoshop doesn't work if the cdrw is plugged in. So, we always leave the CDRW unplug and only plug it in when we need to use it. Recently, the computer can't detect the CDRW at all. And, when we insert a CD into the CDRW, it ejects the CD immediately. Right now, we're unable to determine the cause of the problem, and doesn't have a work around either. Please help. Any info or suggestion is appreciated. Thanks.

Hello nh39,

Have you installed any additional firewire/DV type software recently? Occasionally, a 3rd party firewire extension, may conflict with the ones supplied by Apple.

Alternatively, consider ditching the "hot-burn" software and obtain Toast Titanium (available for OS9 + OSX)It's the best CD/DVD burn product around today. Toast will install a few of it's own extensions. One will be Toast Reader, and another will be Toast Firewire enabler. If you don't remove the other software, you can rename the Toast extensions will a spaces at the head, so they load before any other firewire type enablers.

Good-luck,
Wardley
