Comment:
Hi All,

I am trying to install a web browser onto my mac to get internet access. From my Compaq computer, I downloaded IE and burned it to a CD for the mac, but when I put in the CD, MAC OS does not do anything. How do I access the CDROM? I can tell that the CDROM works because the icon pops up when I insert the AOL CD, but how do I get the CD I burned to show up?

Thanks

I'm guessing one of two things. Either the program you used
to burn the disk on the Windows machine didn't make the CD
in a format (or close the session) in a way that the Mac can
handle, or the CD drive in the 7500 can't read burned CDs.

I have sometimes had a similar problem with my MacBook
Pro (running OS X) but have found if you just leave it for a
while it will pop up in finder soon enough.

Also you'll need a really old version of IE to run on System
7.5.5. I'd suggest you get that machine up to at least OS 9,
then you could install iCab (it is the only pre-OS X web
browser that is still being maintained and supported).

First and foremost please read the Posting Rules, multiple posting is not encouraged or required.

Older Mac's should be able to read CDR discs but not CDRW, also you may have to finalise the disc.

IE4 is available from:

http://browsers.evolt.org/?ie/mac

A good Mac site is:

http://www.jagshouse.com/

Last but not least you should consider OS8.6 or 9 as this will support IE5 and better support for web page rendering, as well as more memory.
