Comment:
I am currently running Windows XP Pro, and I would like to have Mac OSx on it too. This might be a stuipid question but, does anyone know if its possible, without a emulator. Could i make it so when i boot up i have the option of win or mac? I have; AMD athlon 2400+ 768MB ddr 120gb 80gb geforce 5x 5600 thanks, matt
Yes and no...you can't install it without an emulator because the code is written specifically for the PPC chip and they're entirely different kinds of processors from intels etc (RISC, if youre interested, they use a simpler set of instructions to increase efficiency, whereas x86 etc are full instruction set chips..they process everything, even commands not immediately necessary, which is why they get so hot!) Until a couple weeks ago you couldn't rinit with an emulator either, as there were no PPC emulators out there..this has now changed, theres something called PearPC that , though it's still an early version, apparently works..i dont have a link at this time as i only stumbled across it once so far..but you might want to google for it...
PearPC does work well...but it is a little buggy and you need a FAST computer to run it even at a poor framerate!! (3 GHz or slower = 4 FPS or lower ;) ). Your best bet is to get a mac ;). The beauty of OSX can only be truly appreciated on an Apple ;)
hey, brother, it's not possible to Install Mac on a PC, cause the processors and the instruction sets are different, but instead of run an emulator you can collect a series of tools that can help you out a lot, I don't know if you ever heard about StyleXP, WindowBlinds, DesktopX, etc. They are cool software and they helped me a lot, i got my PC like a genuine Mac, and I don't run any emulator or something like that. I really recommend those softwares, good luck with that.
