Can Macs Easily Play iPod .mp4's?

I hope someone who runs a Mac can help me, a Windows User with this question.

I've been trying to convert my avi files into wmv for Windows Users, and another format so Mac Users can easily view them
These files will be streamed and available for download on my site.

Anyway. I haven't been able to find a cheap converter that will let me set options for .mov's.

But this one converter I found converts .avi's for use in the iPod, and turns them into .mp4s.

Can this filetype easily be viewed on Macs without having to install additionally programs of files.

Thanks for any info on this matter.

Yes, Macs can play mp4s straight out of the box, nothing to
add.
