can imac install dvd on powerbook?

it's a tiger dvd from a g5 imac, i wan to use it on a g4 powerbook when i get it (supposedly it comes with a os9 cd, which i think is weird as it was supposedly purchased in july 2004. wasn't osx out by then?) thanks

If you don't have a DVD player you can't read a DVD.

sorry, i wan't clear, the powerbook has a superdrive, so it can read it, but the imac dvd says specifically 'imac g5' on it , not just osx....
