Can I totally clean a new G5?

OS: OSX 10.4.4
CPU/Ram: PowerPC 512 + 1024 upgrad
Product: PowerMac G5
Comment:

A friend who is disabled was told by the dealer not to wait for the Intel-based desktop because it wouldn't come until February, and got a G5 PowerPC last week. She installed the OS but has not registered it or used it. The dealer says they won't take it back because when you turn it on, it says "<name>'s Computer" at the top, even after reinstalling the OS. If she can get rid of this, they will exchange it for a new Intel-based Mac and reimburse her the $500 difference, which she very much needs. Does anyone know how to get rid of this so the machine is as it was when it came from the factory? (I assume Apple will take care of the dealer if the machine is "unused" but that "unused" means it looks exactly as it did when they shipped it.) Thanks in advance for all your help. This is a great forum.

Boot from the OS DVD, open Disk Utility and reformat the
drive. Quit Disk Utility and start the installer to the first
window. Then quit the installer and shut down.

Thanks! For some reason, reformat is grayed out on the CD. But we will keep pursuing this route.

You have to boot from the DVD by holding the C key down.
