I currently have a eMachine 633ids, can I run Mac OS X on it? I would like to see the difference between it and Windows XP. I have upgraded my machine to 512 MB, and added a CD burner; if that matters in compatibility.

No.

Mac OS X only runs on Macintosh computers.

You might - with a lot of work - get Darwin and *some* of the Aqua GUI running on an x86-based machine, but it won't be simple and will require Unix experience.

Last time I checked a eMachine 633 uses a 600 series Motorola processer, but I could be wrong. OS X NEEDs a G3 or higher processer, the darwin core/Mach-o (the heart of OX X) was compiled for the G3/G4. G3/G4 machine code is not 100% compatable with a 600 series processer.

eMachines has never shipped a consumer desktop with anything other than an x86-based CPU.

If you have evidence to the contrary, I'd love to see a link.

It might possible kinda sorta. You can get it from a few places. What you will put on your machine isn't OS X exactly. It is the Opensource version of it . You can get it at apple.com or gnu-darwin.sourceforge.net . I would recommend gnu-darwin it comes with a fairly nice list of applications. Just be sure to download the X86 version. Good Luck

Definitely a 633MHz Celeron.

Celerons are an x86-class CPU.

Motorola has nothing whatsoever to do
with them.

Like I said.
