I'm building a very custom computer...I HATE WINDOWS!...Can I install OS 10 on my new computer...It runs an AMD processor...I hope I can...Help me out
Notch

Sorry but.........No!
Mac OS X is what it's name states, mac
operating system 10 and like windows
xp/nt 4.0 it is ment to run on the most
current processors, while a mac has the
power to emualte a pentium with
mmx,the pc cannot emulate a g3/g4
processor, and to further point out how
unlikely it is that mac os x will run on a
pc(for now??????)it needs a native g3/g4
with atleast 128mb ram,to emulate that
you would need some sick power(sgi/
cray/sun),but who knows maybe with the
quick advances in computers i'll regret
saying that someday??,but for now I
haven't heard anything about an emulator
that runs mac OS X.

Then again, you are doing something you can't do with a Mac...
You're building a very custom computer.
You might try Linux, depends on what software you want to run.Only other options are, buy a Mac (did i really say that?) or get over your hate-feelings and get W2K or XP (install them first, then install linux and double boot).
Contrary to what some may think i don't like the way M$ conducts business any more than the next guy!!! If there were better choices to be made, i wouldn't hessitate a split second to make them.
I don't know enough about OSX to comment on it but if what i hear about it is true i wouldn't mind having it on my PC(if this was a possibility) as a dual boot with Windows 2000 server (my preferred system - yeah, it's expensive and it's M$ i know, but so is a Mac (expensive i mean)).My system:
Athlon XP 1700+
dualboot windows 2000 server (work)+ windows 98SE (play)
3 harddisks (12+20+80GB)
512 MB ram
Geforce 4 TI4600
21" CTX trinitron screenFuture plans:
install Linux(triple boot)
replace 98SE with XP
run OSX in emulation mode? (well, we'll see what's up a year from now...)

Try Yellow Dog Linux 'the briq' thingy..
may be able to do something funky with
that. It's like a whole chassis that sits
inside your amd box in one of the drive
bays. It's designed for linux, but if you are
a tinker nerd.. who knows?
