I need to install a printer file (ppd) to a mac 7.1 and I'm burning from a PC. I;ve tried it, but the CD is not formatted correctly for the OS. Any thoughts? Thanks

I believe you have to enable the 'foreign file access' on your mac, I thing it is in the control panel extension.

I'm pretty sure the iso 9660 extension would be the best choice, as long as you select iso 9660 as format on the PC (which is a straight 8.3 filename format)...heck, make sure all the extensions that end with "access" are in your system 7 extensions folder, and you should be fine-If you need to use window's long filename support (although most installers are 8.3.) then at this site... http://www.tempel.org/joliet You can find an entension that supports this (the earlier version is free, also). Macs generally read most cd formats, assuming all the extensions are loaded...
And of course, don't use a rewritable cd, as any system 7x mac's cdrom drive won't be able to read it at all....

How do I burn a CD in the 9660 format? I have win2K and WinXP, I have Roxio and Nero. I don't see anything with those options. My filename is small "NP1600". I'm also not sure if this simple text file should have no extension or should have a ppd extension. The goal is to hook up a Codonics Postscript network printer to the "applenet" network. For clarification, when I load the CD, it says it's not initialized and asks me to intialize. Of course when I say yes, it says it's write protected. The CD is put in a cartrige type deal. Thanks for the responses. Paul
