Hi,

I am a student and my school has EMac and IMac computers. I own a PC. I recently obtained a bootable OS, that being Linux. The version that I have is Knoppix. On a Windows machine, one needs to set the bios to boot from a CD and pretty soon they are in Linux. The magic thing is that one can just restart and they are out of Linux. Since there are Macs at my school, I am not sure if the CD would work on the MAC computers. I would really like to be able to use this "Instant Linux" on a Mac machine. I am not able to test it because I do not own a Mac, and I do not know how to set the BIOS of a Mac, if the MAC has such. Here is the link to a form of Knoppix: http://www.ussysadmin.com/operator/
Please tell me if it works or does not work...or if you have any other ideas and/or quesitons about this topic...Thanks

Well, when you look at the system requirement, it says INTEL 486 OR LATER.

I believe the only live cd for linux on Mac is Gentoo's.

Typically Gentoo live CDs don't include anything graphical so I'm not sure if it will be much use to you, but if it is, you do not need to change the BIOS, as Macs do not have one, just read the instructions at Gentoo's site for booting it.

Macs do have a bios, it's just called the firmware instead.

I am aware of the open firmware. I just say that Macs do not have a BIOS because you can't really change things in open firmware as you can in a PC's BIOS.

You can do 2 2 + though lol
