hi all!
i have a toast image of OS 9 retail, and i need to make a bootable disc from it. i do not have roxio toast, and it wouldn't work on my machine any way, it's a G3 :/
anyway, how do i create a bootable disc from this file? can it be done?
haha! i got TOAST 6 from a friend at work. but he doesn't have any os 9 discs. so, now that i have TOAST 6, what do i do to burn it to a disc that i can make bootable??
To make a disc from an image file: 1 Click the Copy tab, then click the Disc Settings button. The Disc Settings drawer opens. 2 In the Disc Settings drawer, select the Image File option. 3 Do one of the following: • Drag the image file icon from the desktop to the Copy content area. • Click the Select button. The Choose a File dialog appears, where you can browse for the location of the image file. When you locate it, click Choose. The image file appears in the Copy content area. You can mount it from here. 4 Click the red Record button. 5 When prompted, insert a disc into the currently selected recorder. Toast displays a progress bar as it copies your image file to disc.
For those having trouble burning a boot disk, the following instructions might help. When burning a boot disk, you might want to use a rewritable disk in case the burn does not result in a bootable disk. IOW, you might have to play around with the image and burn application to get favorable results; and coasters can fill up a landfill quickly — especially when AOL is is on a roll. :)
And don't forget to google the topic if you keep running into a wall. You just might find what you're looking for. Meanwhile, below are instructions I ran across one day. YMMV.
