Aquired laptop ibook model A 1005.
A. Comes up with finder, happy mac.
B. Cycles through progress bar and then to blue screen.
C. Note: No start up tone(s)
D. Command keys work infrequently. (if at all)
E. One failed attempt to use command (c)and gave me choice for start up drives. I selected OS 9 CD, gave the sound that it was starting up but failed to completely boot.
F. When OS 9 CD is in you can here the hard drive trying to access cd. CD attempts to boot but fails initialization.
G. Hard drive then just stays suspended with a clicking noise.
H. I am able to get the "shutdown/restart dialog box to appear by pressing the power button. Does allow me to shut down and or restart (where I attempt to use the command keys upon rebooting.)
I. Upon pressing the ESCP. Key I get the "Forced Quit" application dialog box where it tells me that the "Finder has Unexpectedly Quit"...The system and other applications have not been effected!!! YA, BABY? This brings up the question where is it and how do I get to it????PLEASE NOTE: I do not have the system X disk not do I know what system X it is. The progress BoX says OSX. More importantly it appears even if I had the disk (X) I can get MY OS9 CD to boot?
I would be very grateful to any of you that that may be able to send me into the right direction. I went to apples site but got now where.

I am sure you will need the OSX cd to resolve this issue.
Have your tried resetting the firmware?
Regards,
Kyomii

No,
I do not know how to reset the firmware. Please advise and I will try and accomplish this.
