I have been playing around with OS X and I started getting a "Bad Password" error message when I change anything in a control panel. It doesn't stop me from making the changes it just gives me the error when I close the window. I'm not sure what is wrong and how I can correct it. I tried changing the password but the message still comes up.

I think I've figured this one out. First, to clarify the problem (the way I experienced it):
1) The "BadPassword" error occurs only in the Network System Preferences panel.
2) The "BadPassword" error occurs only after one hits the "Apply" button and is a info diaglog with just "BadPassword" on it, spelled exactly like that with no space to separate the words.Well, the problem seems to be the saved network password for the Airport card. It occurs if you make any change to any setting on any of the network interfaces while the Airport card is out of range of any properly working Airport Base Station. I found this out by:
1) I'd only get the "BadPassword" error when I would make changes to my Built-in Ethernet TCP/IP address at work, not at home where I have an Airport Base Station.
2) Using "Active Network Ports," I disabled the Airport card, and then changes to either my Built-in Ethernet or Dial-up Modem would no longer generate the error. Re-activating the Airport card would bring the error right back.
So, there really isn't a problem. It's just that there isn't an Airport Base Station around to authenticate the "changes" to the Airport network password, even though no changes were made to that item.
Just ignore the error.
Dennis.
