Dantz has a software product called 'retrospect'. It is a good package and supports many types of media for backing up your data. You will need a drive system to store the backup data (Iomega JAZ drive, or a tape drive, or a CDR). I recommend CDR, but see for sure that retrospect will support the make/model before diving into a purchase. You can backup to an external hard drive also.

Nouton Utilities from SYMANTEC has an excellent backup utilities. It will compress the backup data by 25% to 75% and it is also very easy to recover files
