Apps won't run or load

I have a new (to me) G3 iBook running OS10.2.8. My problem is it won't open or install OS 9 apps. Here are the two errors:
Trying to open AppleWorks: " APPLICATION COULD NOT BE LAUNCHED BECAUSE OF A SHARED LIBRARY ERROR: %< AppleWorks><AppleWorks><Carbonlib><>".
Trying to install PrintShop: RESOURCE UPDATE ERROR. An error was encountered while attempting to update your system folder with Classic-specific Resources.
