appletalk gaming/file sharing

I was interested in playing a networked game and transfering files via appleshare/appletalk. My friend and I are both on macs (os9) but I have adsl connection and he has dial-up. I can't find his appletalk zone on my network browser and vise-versa. Is there any way we can connect using tcp/ip, appletalk, ipx or something else to make this happen, preferably without me tying up my phone line?

With os 9, if file transfers are all you need they can be done over the internet. Simply turn web sharing on and select a folder in the web sharing control panel DO NOT select a home page. This will give anyone who views your IP address with a browser a FTP like veiw of the files in the selected folder. Also, web sharing can use your file sharing users and groups to determine permisions for this folder. With web sharing on you should be able to see each other min the network browser. You must however eneter the correct IP address. Since his is dialup it is more than likely to be a dynamic IP and he would be more successfull at grabbing files from your Mac than vice versa though it can be done if you use the chooser to connect. The browser would get crowded with the various IP's you would have to enter
