Comment:

I think I did something dumb but maybe
someone knows whether it was or not.
While running IE 5.1 I was interrupted by
the Apple Updater saying I needed an
Applescript/Authoring update. maybe
stupidly I did it and then it restarted.

Is this legit or just a new way to
manipulate a browser and add a trojan
(like Simpsons) or worm. I dumped
OExpress, which I've never used but did
notice it was a little difficult logging on
(not connected to a network, its a home
connection) but that might be the ISP.

IS this possibly bad? I ran NAV but it didn't
find anything. Should I reinstall system
software (a hassle) to be on the safe
side.

Regards
Rick

I'm gonna take a wild guess your Software Update control panel is configured to check for new updates about once a week or so, and it just happened to find one when you were using IE.

Nothing to worry about, but you really ought to ditch IE for a better browser, like iCab.

NOOOOOOOO! Run far, far away from the horror that is Opera.

Opera makes IE look like a very stable piece of software. Hell, Opera makes *Win ME* look like a stable piece of software.

It would be funnier if it wasn't so pathetically accurate.
