Hi everyone. I have a B&W G3 Power 300,
running OS8.6. My keyboard has decided
to go wrong so I went to get a new one. I'm
not keen on the
small size, so I was pleased when the guy at
the Mac Support
Center said I could use the Apple Pro
keyboard with OS 8.6 (Yes
I know it says 9.0.4 on the box, but he's a
professional).According to him, I just plug it in and it
works in 8.6...except
the eject and volume buttons, which I can
live without. So, I paid up, took it home, plugged it in,
zapped my PRAM,
ditched the keyboard prefs...and guess what
- it doesn't work
PROPERLY.Specifically, most of the punctuation keys
are mixed up (but the
alpha-numeric keys are ok). Before I cart the whole computer off to his
shop so I can pay
him even more for help on his possibly bad
original advice, I
thought I'd ask the Mac community here and
see if anyone has
experience in this matter. When I mentioned the problem to this pro he
said there must be a
problem inside the computer as it should
just plug and go (after
zapping the PRAM if necessary).Does anyone know what could be wrong? Or is
he just plain wrong?
He sounded like he was talking from
experience, but I can't
think what else I can 'zap' or otherwise.Am I annoyed or what...? Any help would be
VERY appreciated.
