Comment:

I use an iMac G3 and print on an Apple Laserwriter Select 360 printer that
I had purchased as a refurb months earlier. Everything was working just
fine and then one day - POOF! - the printer disappeared from the Chooser
leaving me unable to print anything. I've looked for it everywhere on my
computer (including unhooking the cables and power, etc) but no luck. I
even checked Apple's archives but they don't seem to have it - at least from
what I could see. Does anyone know where I might be able to download the
software for the printer so I can get it up and running again? If you have
a copy of it you can forward to me, even better. I appreciate any help or
suggestions.

Thanks for the info on attaining software for my Apple Laserwriter Select
360. However, I'm having difficulties getting through to the address you
provided. Each time it gives me: "Can't build data connection: Connection
timed out." I use AOL, could that have something to do with

Try ftp.apple.com instead, and drill down the heirarchy from there.

Once again, thank you for your help. Unfortunately, I can't get through to
the ftp.apple.com site provided. I've tried over a dozen or so times even
using different browsers and still nothing. It'll connect to the site after a
few minutes but then nothing happens or it'll say, "Connection Failed."
Seeing how I'm having no luck getting through, would someone be
willing to download the software for the Apple Laserwriter Select 360 for
OS 8.6 and forward it to me at the address provided? Otherwise, I'll have to
go out and buy a new laserwriter and as you know, that won't be cheap. I
appreciate everyone's help in this matte

Try ftp.info.apple.com.

Or just go to the Apple support site and search for LaserWriter...

I just ran accross this looking for help with my LaserWriter Select 360. I hope it is OK to ask a different question. My printer originally was for my Mac, and then I had to get a PC for work, so now it works great for Windows. (All my installation disks are for Mac.)

Anyway, my toner is now "leaking" out on the side of printed pages." My manual says to go to the tools menu on the installation disk but it won't work in the PC. Any suggestions?
I'm not an expert at such things, so forgive me. Thanks so! Shelby Majors

I went to ftp.apple.info.com and did a search and it came up with
numerous sites, however from what I saw they're more geared to selling
cartridges and supplies and not software. As for the Apple site - did that
awhile back. I searched the archives and couldn't come up with one thing
other than downloads for the printer using Windows, etc. Either I'm
doing something wrong or there's no longer software being provided for
this model. It's too bad because the printer is in excellent condition and I
would feel bad if I had to dump it for something as simple as missing
software which somehow got zapped from my Chooser. I don't know what
else to do. I'll check back to see if anyone has any other suggestions before
I decide what to do. Appreciate all the help. Than

Did you really search, or are you just saying that so I won't get annoyed?

Because the SECOND HIT on Apple's search for "laserwriter software" was it.

I'm not going to post it here because I'm not going to do all your work for you.

Yes, I searched the Apple site up and down and only found hits regarding
documents and/or articles for the laserwriter in question. I even had
someone run the original FTP address on their DSL line and they couldn't
come up with anything resembling the software I'm looking for. I'm sorry
I'm not as internet savy as you. My time online is extremely limited. I
merely asked for help in getting my printer back up and running. This
site was recommended to me by a friend because they said the people on
here quick to help - and that's all

Well, now that you know what to search for and where to search, you shouldn't have any trouble...
