Reply: (edit)On the other hand (and I say this as a confirmed PC user, see my post on "Mac gripes") if you want a light, compact (i.e. 13"), quiet, well designed laptop with a decent battery life, it is far cheaper to get a Mac than a PC. While you can get a more powerful PC for less, it will be big and heavy, and probably badly designed. You seem to have to pay a premium in the PC world for portability and good design (e.g. something like a sony vaio). My 15" widescreen PC laptop can way out-perform my 13" ibook, but it buzzes like a zeppelin, weighs a ton and has a power supply the size of a brick. It's a real hassle to carry around (I don't, basically) whereas the ibook slips in a rucksack pocket. If you plan on /regularly/ carrying a laptop around, this is priceless, and while you can get PCs like this, you will pay far more for them, especially powerful ones. If you need a desktop replacement that also happens to be portable (i.e. every now and again you want to transport it), then get a PC. It will still buzz like a zeppelin, though. :-)

Reply: (edit)i was wondering how long anyone has had a apple laptop? ??? Since the first model was released in 1990's? i'm thinking of buying one but want to know if it really is more reliable than a windows based laptop. right now there is only 2 kinds available...macbook and macbook pro...which do u suggest? The hardware is top quality and i recommend pro if you want extra bit of speed/graphics speed/HD speed/extra ports. I would never buy the non pro range personally...
