When I try to play a CD, I get this message:
"The application AppleCDAudioPlayer has unexpectedly quite, because an error of type 1 occurred."
What's the problem?
Thanks.
Bob

Hi BOB,
I'm a 9.1 veteran. The program needs more memory - if you have enough RAM to give it and run all the programs you have running whilst listening to a CD. In OS 9 you must allocate RAM to each program when something like this occurs. (OS X allocates memory automagically.)
Find the Apple CD Player (Hard Drive: System Folder: Apple Menu Items: Apple CD Audio Player) Click once on the CD Player icon, choose "Get Info" from the File Menu and towards the top of the Get Info box you will see the word "Show" by a drop down menu. Drop down to "Memory" and you will see two boxes, "minimum size" and "preferred size". Increase first the preferred and then the minimum by 500 to 750. Close the window and start the CD player. It should work - as long as you have enough physical RAM to run the CD player along with the other programs you run. If it still quits with a type 1 error you may need more RAM, or you may need to close some programs or restart your computer to reset RAM allotments, as some programs hold memory needlessly. Sometimes rebuilding the desktop helps as well. I rebuild religiously once per week; every Monday AM just for good measure.
Good Luck
