Hi, I need some advice on AOL broadband (don't blame me, I'd happily change to a different provider but it's not my choice.... )

Ive just brought a new Mac G4 Ibook, my current internet connection is with AOL broadband and their site states broadband isn't available for Mac.

I read this to mean that they won't support it but it might be technically possible, and I have seen a couple of posts on other boards where people do have it up and running. I've also read somewhere that it's just the broadband content (which I really don't care about) that's not available for Mac.

I'm currently using the BT Voyager 100 USB DSL modem which does have Mac drivers available.

So, does any one out there know if I can do it? Does anyone here use AOL broadband with a Mac in the UK that can tell me how they did it?

Thanks,

If AOL supply a User Name and Password which authenticates who you are then yes it should be feasible.

I believe the drivers from BT.COM include a Dialler, which is all you should need, though AOL may use either PPPoA or PPPoE to authenticate, so it may be worth checking.

If like BT Yahoo, then yes the supplied Windows software is to setup different users and use their built in privacy software etc

good luck , be interested to know if works as I at present run a MAC from a combined Modem/Router which requires Windows to setup.
