AOL Randomly Disconnects

I am having trouble with AOL disconnecting randomly whenever I dial up to the service. It can be forced to crash by just sending an email. It is frustrating me to no end. I have tried updating the modem firmware, deleting AOL, uninstalling AOL and reinstalling AOL. I am at my wits end. Does anyone have a suggestion?
