since upgrading to broadband (comcast), I am unable to sign
on through aol...I can access the internet (and aol) through
safari with no problem but I cannot use aol software to sign
on...comcast has thrown up their hands, aol tells me it is an
issue with netgear modem and apple tells me it is an aol
software issue...has anyone solved this problem? Would you
be willing to share how? Is it solveable? Thanks!

Hi Kim,

It is the AOL software - it does not yet support the broadband protocol for the Mac - so you cannot connect via their software.

You will only be able to access AOL via a web browser at the moment. This is why AOL say they do not support broadband for the Mac yet.

I use AOL broadband with a Mac, but I use via a router, not via their software. So, when I want to sign on via their software (which is very rare) I have to use the Windows system I have.

Kyomii

Thanks so much for your response...it seems such a shame
to pay a monthly fee for the use of a screen name without
use of the software...do you know if there is a new version of
aol in the works to fix this? Either way, thanks for taking the
time to share this information...I really appreciate it!

Hi Kim,

I finally have the AOl software working on the Mac!!! Download it from here:

http://www.aol.co.uk/download/aol_macosx.html

Then install it. Choose Automatic setup. Now you will see a list of ways to connect:

Apple modem
Apple Airport
TC/IP

Now choose TC/IP connection from the list. Now choose the advanced tab. Click the drop down menu arrow and choose DSL (broadband) option. Now it will connect.

Hope this helps!

Regards,
Kyomii
