Hi everybody,
Not sure exactly where to post this, but I’ll give it a go here…
I’m hoping someone might be able to help me with a little problem: I’d want to try running a legacy OS on an old PowerMac 7300 I have knocking around, just for a bit of fun, and for learning new stuff. Is it possible to install NeXTSTEP, OPENSTEP and/or BeOS on this machine or do the Apple custom ROM chips preclude this? What I install is not that important to me, all I really want to do is try new OSs on this machine.
I have lots of experience using computers but have never attempted anything like this before. Therefore, specific advice in simple terms would be really useful. If there is anyone out there who can help me? Thanks everybody.

Brando, thanks a lot, I'll have a go at Yellow Dog. Do you have any idea about the possibility of installing NeXTStep 3.x on this machine?

I think that OS, if it was one, might be a little too out
dated, and I'm not sure if it is avilable, or where you
would find it for free.http://www.gnustep.org/
This seems to be the only continuing form of ithttp://osnews.com/story.php?news_id=4042
Worth readingAnother choice might be a form of BSD, and they can
run gnustep if you look on the download page of the
gnustep website.www.openbsd.org
www.freebsd.org
www.netbsd.organd I think in linux you have a chance of running
gnustep if you use Yellow Dog linux 2.3 (also on the
download page of gnustep)
