A strange problem - My iMac can see the airport network,
however I can't connect to the server and internet.
Whenever I try and manually configure my network
settings, with IP address, DNS Server etc, and then apply
the settings, it seems not to remember them. Thus, after
having set up, and applied the settings, then going back
into the network settings, everything is blank. Even
creating a new new location doesn't save. And also
manually typing in the Server address into the address bar
of safari doesn't connect (error message: A connection
failure has occurred). All of this while it's perfectly happy
seeing the network, which is happily working away.I am the only account on the computer and I am
registered as an administrator. Another helpful fact might
be that I recently reinstalled osX because I was having
difficulties before, I've had no connection since then.Has anyone got any ideas on how to rectify the situation
before I have to call in some overpriced Mac Doctor?.....
please?

Is this on a home network, and if so what type of service
do you have for internet? You should be able to set your
conection in Network preferances to Airport, Location:
automatic, and under the TCP/IP tab configure IPv4: Using
DHCP, which will in turn grab an IP address for you. Don't
know if this helped but it is kinda how I have mine set up,
and mine works just fine.
