Hello, I recently purchased a Airport card for my PowerBook as well as a Airport extreme base and one of those signal boosters.

I can not seem to connect using my Win XP laptop which has a Dlink DWL 650 I just updated the driver (before that I could not even see the Airport base with the windows laptop). It keeps telling me that I am connected to the device but there is no signal even when i am 5 feet away. On top of which I can only see the Airport base when i set it to 802.11b only. Does anyone know how i might be able to fix this.

I am also haveing another concern when i was perchasing my equipment i was told that the signal booster would greatly improve the signal.... with out it i get very low signal strength at the other side of the house which is not even 60 feet away and with it I get almost no signal at best. Am I not connecting it properly, or is there something wrong with my unit, or does it just not work like those antena stickers for cell phones?

Thank you for you help
Mark

It sounds like there's something funky between the PowerBook and the base station. Figure that out first, because that'll help your connectivity problem with the XP laptop too.

Things I'd try...

1) Remove the range extender and see if it works OK with the stock antenna.
2) Make sure the card is seated properly in the PowerBook.
3) See if Apple has any ideas - you're still under warranty.

Once you get that problem sorted, see what you can do about connecting to the XP laptop via a *wired* connection. If that works, then things are configured right, and you should give the wireless another try. Note that you'll probably have more luck connecting through the base station than directly to the XP laptop.
