Well, here again, with yet another issue.

I just bought the Airport Extreme, and the wireless internet option works great, no problem with networking. However, I cannot get my printer to work wirelessly, with the USB option on the router. This doesn't work in Windows, or OSX! I've tried a few things, something about "Bonjour" but to no avail. SECONDLY, in Windows, I cannot get my external HDD to work. Everytime I try to connect to it, I get the error "Could not connect to the disk. Make sure NetBIOS is enabled and try again (53)" . Well I tried enabling this "NetBIOS" option in my wireless network configuration, under the TCP/IP thing, but it didn't change anything. Any help would be appreciated!

Dan

Well, funny thing, the printer works for some reason now, although it's a hp LaserJet 1012, but I am still having the NetBIOS problem with my external HDD in Windows.... :(

First off, ensure your Windows firewall allows your Mac to talk to it. You can test this by getting the Windows machine's IP address, then PING it using Network Utility or Terminal on your Mac.

Then make sure your external drive has been shared - you should see a hand over the drive icon when it's listed in My Computer.

Now get the Windows machine's computer name via right-click My Computer, then click Computer Name tab.

Then in Finder, click Go->Connect to server. Enter in "SMB://xpcomputername" where xpcomputername=YOUR XP computer name. If all went well, it will ask you for a username/password to access the drive. This will be your XP username/password.
