Hi;
I'm not a mac user, but asking this on behalf of a friend. Someone was using her computer to download music etc., and she now is having problems with her system....won't boot!
So here are my naive questions (so bear with me):
1) Are Macs susceptible to the same adware spyware as pc users?
2) can the same programs, like Adaware, Spybot, Spywarebalster etc. be used to clean and protect the system?Thanks, and if she can't get her system started, I may be back for help!

(1) To the best of my knowledge, there are no known
viruses, worms, or spyware/adware for the Mac. Some
funny business was happening with cookies, but I think
Apple fixed that.(2) You won't find Mac versions of Ad-aware, Spybot S&D,
or Spywareblaster. Last March I corresponded with Patrick
Kolla, the author of Spybot S&D, asking him why he didn't
have a Mac version. His answer:
"You don't need it."Macs should run anti-virus to avoid being a "carrier" of
viruses from PC>Mac>PC, just to be a good netizen.
