Hello - Merry Christmas everyone!

We just bought and installed an external Iomega CD-RW 40x12x48 FireWire to replace a Que Fire CD-RW on a G4 OS 9.1, which has both Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and 5.5. The Photoshop 5.5 works fine but the 7.0 doesn't when the CD-RW is plugged in. Every time we try to open Photoshop 7.0 while the CD-RW is plugged in, it gives an error message: "The application 'Adobe Photoshop 7.0' has unexpectedly quit, because an error of type 2 occurred. You should save your work in other open applications and restart the computer."

I have assigned more memory for Photoshop but still doesn't help unless I disconnect the CD-RW. I don't notice anything wrong with the CD-RW either.

Any help or info is greatly appreciated!

Hi nh39.

Have you tried updating your Photoshop 7?

They have a 15.2 MB update file.

I use a PC at home and have Photoshop 7. Until I updated it, one of my other programs would not launch. The cursor stayed forever center screen.

After installing the Photoshop update, the other program launched normally.

Take care,

Linda

I'd also be VERY tempted to take the CD-RW back and exchange it for a better brand. Iomega makes cheap crappy products for the most part. Get an external CD-RW with a Yamaha, Sony, or Plextor mechanism in it.
