This is in regards to a simular issue that another user has submitted as well.
Recently I purchased an IBook 600mhz G3 from an ebay seller.
I can boot up and use the IBook fine but...
it has an Admin Username and Password set that has locked out the ability to make systems changes such as changing Date and Time and other features that I need to change. The seller is not very cooperative with help and I dont want to buy a new version of Tiger OS unless I have too.
Is there a way that I can reset the Admin User and Pass so that I can have full access to my IBook?
As of now I cant even install new software becuase the admin setup prevents it unless you have permission.
Thank you for your help.

You can't do anything without Tiger Install CD's/DVD. If you have them, boot your mac from CD/DVD, when you see installation screen, do not proceed, but select "password reset utility" from Apple menu. Zap all account passwords to blank, then boot from Hard Drive. Hope this helps.

Actually most, if not all, OS X bootable install disks had a
password erasing capablity built into them. I know for
sure that OS X 10.2 through 10.4 has it.Find one of these disks, place it in the optical drive,
restart the computer and when you hear the boot tone,
hold the 'C' key down. This will start the machine booted
from the CD rather than the internal HD.If this doesn't work, hold down the 'option' key while
booting and when the blue screen appears select the CD
once the hourglass has gone away and then select the
proceed button that looks like an arrow pointing right.Once booted from the CD next to the Install OS X</
b> name in the top left side of the menu bar should be a
'Utilities' menu or something like that. There should be a
reset password option in one of those menus.Good luck!
