Comment:

I have just obtained a G3 to allow me to learn Mac. It is on OS 9.2. I would like to learn how to add and remove programs. In particular, I want to remove a program called virex, which is anti virus and then I want to install a free version of AVG. Also, I am wondering, does a Mac need a program like Ad-Aware.

Thanks for your help.

Just drag the program to the trash, then do a find for it's
name and drag anything you find to the trash.

AdAware is unnecessary.

Adding programs is pretty much the same as removing
them, just drag them to the hard drive, and they're done.
other than that, they'll come with installers that just need
you to confirm that you want what you're installing, and
where you want it put. Thats it. Nothing at all difficult
there. Have fun.

As mentioned, just drag the folder of the program to the
trash - the Mac has no registry, so it doesn't need to
uninstall the same as Windows.

Also, you will not be able to use AVG unless they do a Mac
version, which I don't think they do from memory. Any
program you want to install on the Mac has to be
compatible with the Mac - Windows only programs will
not work on a Mac.

Kyomii
