I bought a used 2006 Macbook, but it doesn't come with recovery CD. I'll about to get a copy of the new OS X 10.5 Leopard though. I am wondering if the OS X CD can be able to act like a recovery CD so that I can restore it to factory setting (or clean out the whole hard drive), or do I need to download a copy of original recovery CD? Pls respond, thank you in advanced.

You can use a Leopard disc to reinstall the system, but you'll lose some of the extra's that came with the MacBook, like the iLife apps (iMovie, iPhoto, iDVD, etc).

I see, cool, thanks. But I thought those applications come with the leopard?!...
Anyways, if not, then is it safe to surf the internet though since all these firewalls and other good apple issues are missing?
Can I download/copy them, and all they still works the same, right?
Thanks so much, tony.

iLife is not included on a retail Leopard disc, it is included with the purchase of a new machine (it would be on the System Install discs that came with the machine).
It will be a complete system, firewall included. The only thing missing would be extra apps: iLife apps, iWork demo, MS office demo and stuff like that. All Apple's standard apps will be installed: Safari, Mail, iChat, etc. You'll be perfectly safe surfing the net and have a fully functioning Leopard install.
You can copy the iLife apps to a CD, DVD, USB drive or whatever media prior to erasing the drive and then put them back afterwards.
