I am not a Mac expert. In fact, I've only worked on a Mac two or three times in my life. However, I visited Canada a few weeks ago, where I saw a couple of beautiful Macs in a store, both running in screensaver mode. The screensaver were such stunningly beautiful that I thought I should have one on my home PC. The way the screensaver worked was pretty simple: a picture was moving slowily, increasing and then shrinking in size. The question to the Mac owners: is there a way to make Apple screensavers work on PC, and if so, where can I find them? PS. I do like Apple products a lot (in fact, I think Apple has one of the absolutely strongest design teams in the world, just like Sony Ericsson in the mobile phone world :). But I am not a Mac convert, simply because in my country it is very difficult to work on a Mac.

Unfortunately, they aren't convertible. Given that the screen saver you're talking about is pretty simple, I wouldn't be shocked if there was a suitable PC copy of it. Try ... hmm ... versiontracker.com, or some other suitable Windows downloads site, and see if there's anything close. Looking at your email address, I'm guessing that you're from Russia (or Eastern Europe?) I honestly don't have a clue what the Mac environment is in other countries ... sad ... You could get a used Mac just to play around with. If it will run OS X (10.2,) then it will play quite nicely with WinXP Pro. But ... for Windows, XP Pro is pretty decent. ----paxcirc.a-

paxcirca, Thanks for your reply. You missed just a little bit - I am from Kazakhstan, one of the former Soviet Union republics. There is an Apple outlet in my home town, but as far as I know they are really tiny - only supporting the Macs that are already here (whether they are owned by incoming expacts or othwerwise brought into the country). In this part of the world the dominance of the PC is absolute. In Moscow, it is not that bad (i.e. you can find more stuff for your Mac, as well as the Mac fans to talk to), but still... The ".ru" in my e-mail address simply means that I have registered in the Russian domain zone, simply because they provide more developed services, and they speak Russian, our common language.
