I am having trouble with my Mac.
I installed a 2nd drive and it worked quite well for a while. But every now and then it would not show up when I would boot up. This was usually corrected when I would reboot a few times. But these days I cant get it to show up at all.
On my first hard drive I have Sys Software 7.5. I use that primarily.
My 2nd drive has 9.1 and I installed it when I bought a scanner about a year and 1/2 ago.
Everything was working fine for a while. Im not sure what is happening now. Help!

Several possibilities. 1 there is a voltage problem to the drive. Could even be a loose connection via the splitter cable or even the power supply. 2 The drive is not posting in the time allocated, drive motor spinning up slow? Try this, Swap the drives and make the slave the master and the master the slave. Hold down the OPTION key when you boot and select the operating system/drive of choice.
I am only guessing here but any help is better than none.

You are right - the 2nd drive has always been slow starting up. Why is that?
I will follow your suggestion and report back
thanks

before I try this -
Is it as easy as just swapping the hard drives or do I have to worry about changing any scsi ID numbers, or anything else?
thanks again
By the way -
Since I installed that 2nd hard drive I have always had a suspicion. It would always start up after a long pause, slower than the other one
