Comment: Hello, I am hoping that someone here can help me.... I Have a 12 inch PowerBook G4 and the battery seems to be having issues. It will say it has 80 - 90 % left and then all of the sudden will go to sleep with no warning. And if i try to switch it so that it shows me time left rather then the Percent all i see is calculating no matter how long i let it sit there. Does anyone know what could be wrong with my computer or how i can fix it?

Reply: (edit)So its out of warranty then? It sounds like the connection from the battery to the logic board. If you've dropped it for example you might have dislodged or snapped the connection. You will probably have to take it to an apple service centre.

Reply: (edit)Yes it is out of warrenty, and i have never dropped it but i have had apple replace the logic board and the battery on this laptop while it was in warrenty. I guess i will have to pay the $300 or so to get it fixed. Thanks for the help. Mark

Reply: (edit)Batteries only have a certain number of life cycles, yes even Li-Ion batteries. The life cycle of your 12" Powerbook is about 700, which means that if you run your batter all they way until it is empty and then charge it back that's one cycle. If you run your batter till it's half empty then charge it back to full that's a half cycle. If you use your Powerbook very frequently then it will hold less and less of a charge every time. A battery uses chemical reactions to store energy, and eventually they'll die on you. So just get a replacement. WRT54G
