10.2.8 Update on Beige g3

Hey guys....just a question: i have a jaguar (10.2) OS installed on my beige g3. Everything is working great, no problems. I made an update to 10.2.8 and my system didn't boot again. I reinstalled 10.2 and everything works great now, but off course i didn't perform de 10.2.8 update. The thing is i can't install Office 2004 and Acrobat Reader without this update; but i can't do the update cause it makes my system crash....
