I've been able to set up a Windows 98/ OS 10.2.1
LAN Network. My wife's Windows laptop can see
my B&W G3 on her Network Neighborhood.
Conversely, I can see her laptop though my Go To
command in the Finder. However, when she tire to open up my system
through her Network Neighborhood, she is asked
to enter a password. I've tried every password for
every account that we have and I can't get it to
open for her. The dialog box on her machine
doesn't even ask for a login name just a
password. How do I ensure I am using the right user names
and passwords on *both* machines? What
password is the WIndows machine asking me for
when it tries to access the drive on the Mac?It is frustrating to be so close with seeing each
other's machines but not being able to get in! Any
help appreciated . . .Thanks
-Ty

Someone else just had the same problem here. No idea why or what the problem was but I'm inclined to think it's on the Windoze side.

Setup a new account on the Mac for her, use a
different name than any other. Mkae sure
Windows and Personal File Sharing are turned
on.

Windows networking occasionally has some sort of phantom memory. You can change all the parameters to something that should work, reboot, verify that everything is as you want it, and still have no luck.
Sometimes the best solution is to delete the accounts that are there and create new ones. Yeah - windows sucks, but the reality is that there are a lot of windows networks out there, so you may as well know how to deal with them.
By the way, network neighborhood occasionally doesn't update promptly. It wasn't an issue in this case, but when you don't see stuff in NN, ping to test the connection before you assume it's not there.
