In kde generally you just have to right click on file and it will give you the option to open in archiver or run archiver program from utilities start menu (this has been true in redhat 7.2 & 7.3 menus but it should be there someplace in 8.0's improved menus???

Hi - There are two command line programs:

zip
unzip

They both have man pages.
