Ok, im totally new to Linux. Im toying with it, and as i log in as root, It tells me i have mail. I have not configured any pop3 , or anything like that, becuase I am still learning. Im still using windows for that stuff. Now, where is this mail coming from, and, How do I go about checking it?

The message is probably coming from linux. probably an error message or something. If you read roots mail the message will go away.

one way to read it is typing 'pine' as root. pine is a text mail reader.

When you login as root in the console mode and
it says that you have mail. Type mail then enter
when it comes to the end of the first message
the q for quit and the next message is displayed.
when you reach the end of the final message
type q and you will be back to the command
prompt
