Hi guys, I thought I could do this myself, but unfortunately it doesn't seem so.
I'm trying to install yahoo messenger , I have linux mandrake 7.2. After downloading the file and using the rpm -i "filename" command to install it, I thought all I had to do was just to type "ymessenger" in the command prompt to launch the applicaiton. Unfortunately it keeps comming up with:
"ymessenger: command not recognized"Could someone tell me what could be wrong and how I could get yahoo messenger installed on my linux. thanks guys.

Hi!
you can use centericq! for a lot of messenger services for example icq, msn, irc and yahoo!
it's very easy!
try it

Far's I know ymessenger is the only file that is necessary to run yahoomessenger on linux.
So if thr rpm command exited without complaining, it probably means that the binary has been installed but in a directory that is not in the path.
So u have many options here..
first find the binary.. look in /usr/local/bin and /usr/binif it is there, then check if that dir is in u're path, else add it.
if its not there then
# find / -name "ymessenger"as root preferably, and see where the binary is. Then move it into either /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin and say 'ymessenger'. it should run
also, u should check that the binary has execute permissions .

I just type:
ymessenger
in the shell and it pops up like a starving dogs salivary glands in a butchers shop.

Hi to anyone
I would like to making new friends or any else.. enjoyed emails too.. i am 26 F Conn.. Smiling
