xserver faild

Hi linux people,
I have ati agp video card with an old machine that I am trying to install debian on it "because it is good for updating". the problem is that the xserver faild. how can I resolve the problem? thanks in advance

What exactly do you mean by fail? Did you at
least try to run "xf86config" at the prompt to
configure X for your system?

Post up the last few lines of output after
you do a "startx" and it fails. It should
give you the reason why....

It looks like a problem with line 48 of
/etc/X11/XF86Config(-4)

Try commenting out Load "dbe" from
your /etc/X11/XF86Config(-4) file by
putting a "#" in front of the line, eg:

Section "Module"
#Load "dbe"


You may need to comment out the whole
SubSection "extmod" too.

I'm not 100% sure, perhaps you should post
up your /etc/X11/XF86Config(-4) too.
