since I installed realOne player on slackware8.1 using Opera as browser.
When I go to shoutcast and click to play a streaming radio station xmms opens up but at the place of playing it opens a browser and asks to load a file.

So I guess you're trying to get RealOne to play the file? It's in the Opera preferences. There's something about file types, where you can play about with file extensions and mime types.

Oh, well try playing about with that option in Opera preferences. You may be able to tweak it.

Hey Nelly,

In Preferences/Applications/File Types for audio/x-scpls, make sure "Pass web address directly to application" is unchecked under "Open with other application". (xmms should be in the textbox, of course.) The .pls file will be sent to xmms instead of the URL.

HTH,
Vern

Now, if I could get ALSA installed, I'd actually be able to listen to the streams...
