Hi
I am using redhat 8.0. Everything is good except XMMS.It can play file WAVE but when I choose file MP3 it does nothing.
eg: I choose Play File form the Menu and choose ADD SELECTED FILES to play, it doesn't load the file and play.
I don't know why. My sound card is SOUND BLASTER LIVE.
Anyone have experience about it please help me.
Thanks a lot

RedHat decided to somehow include xmms but
wouldn't make it work!!! And if you go to
www.xmms.org, you will find out more about it
and how to fix that problem! Otherwise, use
freeamp--zinf--or complain about it to RedHat
which I will let them know what's on my mind
especially the KDE thing with RedHat Linux 8.
What's the hell wrong with including both Gnome
and KDE (and make it work, not just showing it
in the menu at the login screen)? I like using
KDE and have some problems for KDE but none
of them work now because of that stupid
decision from RedHat. Should include both
window managers and let the user chooses
which one he/she wants to use...

Can we all just get along???

Since the mp3 codec now needs to be licenced RedHad decided not o include it, thus not incurring the wrath of the licence demanders.

Go to www.freshrpms.net, check that Psyche link on the top left and find a XMMS MP3 plugin

Glad I'm using RedHat 7.0... It's older, but works great with XMMS MP3 playing and KDE... (Although, I only use KDE because GNOME crashes so much... GNOME craps out on me more than Windows 98 ever has.)

I finally got xmms to work with RedHat Linux
8.0! I just removed the dorn old one on my
system and download the source from
www.xmms.org. Configured, compiled, and
installed it. A couple of minutes later, I
could play my MP3's again with xmms... Now,
it's time to fix some other programs that I
have for KDE!

on mandrake (which is actually red hat) it is installed with all plugins and works just fine. I wonder why red hat is worried about copy rights, while mandrake doesn't give a damn?
