I can't start an x session in debian. I run XF86Setup, but when I finish I get an error message that says "_s11TransSocketUNIXConnect: Can't Connect: errno= 111" It repeats that line a bunch of times then tries to go back to XF86Setup. That fails. I get the gray screen with the black X in the middle. After I get tired of looking at that screen, I ctrl+alt+backspace and it all starts again. I retry XF86Setup, but my mouse is no longer working and the settings I just made have been erased. I think it may have something to do with my video card. I have fairly new Intel card. Intel's website says I should use the VESA option in xfree86. But how can I do that if VESA is not on the card list and the XF86Config file is not being created? Oh yeah, I once had windowmaker running at a low resolution with huge icons, but then I had to reinstall debian. Please help.
