I have been experimenting with Linux for Windows 9X http://www.monmouth.com/user_pages/patv/linux.html. It is a distribution of Monkey Linux
http://www.pslib.cz/monkey/docs/english.htm.

When I try to start X Windows (startx) the screen goes strange and flashes. My graphics card supports 1024 by 768 resolution, but my monitor only supports 800 by 600.

This distribution of Linux doesn't appear to have directories such as usr, but the commands help, ftp, telnet, etc. work. How can I configure X Windows? Do I need to download a tarball from the X Windows web site to install a new X Windows? Obviously, I'm a Linux newbie :)
